Gunther, 59, From ‘Friends’ Died Due To Cancer

We all know James Michael Tyler, Ohhh you don’t know him? Yeah, he is our lovely Gunther from the famous series “Friends”. He plays the role of manager at central perk, we can call him “The Seventh friend”. He was funny and has love feelings for Rachel.

Eventually, he died on 24 October 2021, because of Prostate cancer. In his last posts, he revealed his illness and urge readers to get regular tests for Prostate cancer. He also post a video in which he described his illness, treatment and also said sorry for not appearing in “Friends Reunion”.

Not only ‘Friends’ Actors but all his fans and other stars are in deep sorrow. Some of them posted a Tweet for Gunther. Scroll down to the end and see all tweets.

Cancer revealled

His fans get to know about his Prostate cancer in June in the TODAY show, during the show he said “Actually, I’m here to let you know that in September 2018, I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, which had spread to my bones.” Initially, no one believed that everyone thinks he is joking.

Cancer diagnosed

But then he revealed his Cancer journey. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. During the show, his cancer was on late-stage cancer.  His fans were sad and want to know more about his health condition.

Treatement journey

He also talked about his treatment “worked amazingly for about a year.” Previously he was treated with Hormone therapy and then he switched to Chemotherapy.

Emotional explaination

“All I had to do was take a pill in the morning and the night, and boom, life was pretty much normal,” he explained.

Reason for late stage Cancer

During the interview, he also said that he was totally fine and showing no symptoms due to which he was late in diagnosing cancer. In a pandemic, cancer spread to his bone, and his lower body experienced paralysis.

‘Friends Reunion’

He also shared the initial plan of ‘Friends Reunion’. “I wanted to be a part of that, and initially I was going to be on the stage, at least, with them, and be able to take part in all the festivities. It was bittersweet, honestly. I was very happy to be included,” he said.

Own decision

He continued: “It was my decision not to be a part of that physically and make an appearance on Zoom, basically, because I didn’t wanna bring a downer on it, you know?”

Regular test for Prostat cancer

He urged all his viewers to test regularly for cancer. And also stated that if they diagnosed it on time there are better options for treatment.

On sunday morning he passed away after fighting for 4 years. TMZ was the first channel to break this News. TMZ also talked to Tyler’s family in which they said that “The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh “Friend”), from the hit series “Friends,” but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband.”
